Surprisingly simple and effective5
I implemented the transmitter on a Windows XP laptop via a powered USB port. The receiver is plugged into the CD audio-in of my stereo amplifier.

I was a bit concerned to find that there was no CD or installation provided with the transmitter. However, when plugged in to the USB, Windows immediately recognized it and installed the appropriate Creative drivers. No further installation required, and Windows seamlessly switches between local sound (if the Xmod is not plugged in) and remote sound (transmitted to the receiver, and playing over my stereo speakers).

This was simpler than I expected, works better than I hoped, and cost less than any other competitor I could find. If you want a mechanism for playing iTunes on your home stereo or speakers remote to the computer on which it's running, this is the solution.

Good Product in Right Situation4
To Start with: I am using this product to transmit my ripped (320kps) CDs to my stereo without having to manually find go through the cds and load them in (and clean up the piles everywhere after). The computer is 30-40 feet and 1 wall from the stereo. The sound is perefect. I am not enough of an audiophile to know if really is enhancing the sound, but i think the computer speakers sound better with the product (i never played mp3 on the stereo before so cannot compare, but have no complaints with the sound quality).
The setup was simple- just plug and play, with no effort
I cannot figure out how to turn the device on and off without the remote.
As noted the remote is IR, so it must be pointed at the device, but the remote pointed at the stereo receiver will change the song on the computer in the other room (i had expected to have to go to the computer to do that, so that was a definite plus). I cannot control it however from my decks or bedroom that have wired speaker from the stereo.
The sound knobs on the devices and the remote work, so the device can be set to put in a balanced input to the amplifier so that the stereo volume does not have to be adjusted everytime a source is switched (unlike my dvd player which has to be run at 1 1/2 times the volume of anything else).
I have only one receiver and have not tried any other features.
They provided plenty of cables including a gold plated audio to stereo split jack and a usb to ac converter (in case you are not using it with a computer and instead to send stereo to wireless speakers). The only imaginable cable they did not provide was the simple red-white to red-white stereo cable that anyone who has had more than one audio device in the past and not thrown away the cables has a pile of anyway.
I have wireless internet on 2.4 and this device transmits on 2.4, so anytime the unit is used, i cannot access internet on the second computer. I am trying to find a work around for that but for now i cannot recommend this device for anyone dependant on wireless internet. For me it not a huge issue, as there are not that may times when i would be running the stereo and also using the internet downstairs (which is connected directly into its own stereo), but for a lot of people this would be a serious issue. The internet that is directly wired works fine with it running (it is running as i write this), and the internet does not seem to interfere with it (ie i do not have to turn off the wireless internet transmitter at any time). I have DECT 6.0 phones that are not interfered with, so cannot comment on other phones.
The creative site is a bit difficult and near impossible to find answers on, probably like most sites, but to even register you have to try multiple different approaches as in some approaches it requires you to provide information that it won't give you any way to provide. I would also think my problem above would be one of those in the 6 pages of obscure technical FAQs they have.
All in all, the product did what i expected (and also gave me the bonus of changing the songs without having to go to the computer) and i am happy with the purchase. I have to admit i fully expected it to interfere with the internet, but did not want to use an fm signal or try to mess with the technical difficulties of incorporating it in the internet signal. I also had every expectation of having to walk to the computer to play the music- but it was a tradeoff versus the expense of a whole new computer to be added to the stereo.

Clear signal. good product4
Product does what it claims to do. The signal is good, sound is great and you can control what effects (only 2) you want if any. Remote controll is cool too (other than having ANOTHER remote in the never ending line of remotes). The only things i do not like is
1) The signal is delayed a little (i.e over the air). Thus, you can't listen to your speaks on the PC at the same time as the speakers on your stereo because there is no delay in the sound coming from the PC to your PC speaks, but there is from the PC to these units.
2) when you have the unit turned off, it blinks a red light to let you know its off. I do not know why in the would people make products like that. When I turn it off, I want it off! Just wastes electricity.

USB Sound Blaster...fits the bill4
I recently purchased the Creative Labs USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 device. I was a former user of the older Live USB Sound Card. This is everything that the Live device wasn't, especially support for USB 2.0. More to the point, I needed a high quality device to drive both 5.1 Digital and 2.0 Analog audio to my A/V receiver at the same time. The 5.1 channel drives my main zone, while the 2.0 channels drive my two remote zones (using the SB headphone jack).

The Sound Blaster integrates between my Media Center PC that is used primarily as a Digital Audio and Video library. My PC has a very small profile and unfortunately the on board Audio, does not support both 5.1 and 2.0 channels at the same time. The only drawback is my HD Audio onboard components support a higher sampling rate of 192K as opposed to the Sound Blaster rate of 96K. I suspect this is due to the USB bandwidth. Personally, I cannot hear the difference.

All in all this is a very nice package that fits into my home entertainment environment. I like the black finish and that all the cables connect in the back. When will the drivers be updated to support 7.1? And the hardware to support HDMI?

Seems great so far5
I haven't played with the bells and whistles but it's super convenient for a laptop as a quality sound card replacement. Just a simple USB plug-in. Perfect for me.

Blue Screen of Death 8-X5
System:
HP Pavillion Entertainment laptop DV9000 series.
2GB RAM.
256 NVIDIA Graphics.
XP Media Center Edition.
Logitech Z5500 Speakers.

Just received this sound card today about an hour ago actually. So this is gonna be quite a short review. Upon installation I thought it was great compared to the old one i had. I had a Creative Audigy 2 NX external sound card for more or less a year and a half that gave up on me last week. Hopefully this one would last longer than the old one.

The Good:
>X-fi Crystalizer does an excelent job. I can hear cymbals more now with my Logitech Z5500 speakers which i could barely hear with my old sound card (Creative Audigy 2 NX).

The bad:
>After installing the driver and software and rebooting my laptop. I tried playing a music with Windows Media Player. Checked out what new with the software this came with. Adjusted a few things on the software settings then, all of a sudden the music Stoped! Next thing i saw was the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH staring right at me with my 24" monitor. Man that was scary. My heart was pumping like crazy. Felt like Bloody Mary was looking at me LOL. A good early Trick or Treat by my system I guess. But after that, it rebooted itself and now its running swell. I have no idea what caused that Blue Screen of Death to appear.

Updates will be done for this review if problems come or if I dont get too lazy to type.

P.S.
What i liked about the Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX was that it had a Fiber Optic Input where in i can plug in my PS3 and have the EAX effects of the soundcard on my Speakers. This only has Line In, Mic Inputs doesnt even have Coax Out. But I guess that just how life is, you just cant have everything in one. I'd still recommend this!

Customer Review: You lost 1 customer
I thought highly of Creative Labs, being 1 of competitive brand along with Sandisk and the Apple Ipod but I guess not. After 1 month of using this seemingly perfect product, it just stop responding. Probably I got 1 of the defect but it still means I have wasted my money which makes me upset as it is hard earned money. One thing I can say for sure Sandisk has never failedCreative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) me yet.
Customer Review: good little mp3 player
I really like this little mp3 player. It's small, about the size of a box of tictacs. It's good to have an option that is small but still has a screen. I use mine for mostly audiobooks and it holds at least two novel sized books and quite a bit of music with room to spare. The only problem I've had with it is the menu can be hard to use when trying to seek a track but it's never been a huge problem just clunky. The software creative media lite is really simple to use for a non tech person lik...

Customer Review: Disappointed
I was so excited with i got my Creative Zen Stone. Yes the charge life was horrible, but that was not much of a concern for me. I liked the fact that it was small and perfect for working out. Overall i thought it was a neat little gadget until it suddenly stopped working after 2 months. I attempted to turn it on one afternoon and the creative logo appeared on the screen and wouldn't go away. I could not access my music and the device would not turn off . I'm highly disappointed...i expected more...
Customer Review: Creative Zen Stone Plus
It's a great little mp3 player. It's basically a shuffle. You can make folders but that uses up more space so it's basically organization vs. amount of music. Plus definitely get a little case for it because mine got scratched up pretty quickly and I was very careful. I guess because it's such a small screen one or two little nicks are very annoying. You can choose language, sound settings (according to genre and there's a custom setting), there's fmradio with tons of presets. It's defini...
